These are some of my favorite HDR conversions  from various shoots. Old, dusty and dirty environments can be changed into something beautiful through this technique.

The train carriage you can see, is more than a 100 years old. Imagine how many people have traveled to their destination in this coach. The close-up of the training wheels, comes from a locomotive that was used just after the turn of the century, to test new technology that came from the UK before it was installed on other locomotives.  It is said that at its peak this locomotives could travel at the speed of 160 km/h. Truth or urban legend? I don’t know, it is the story that intrigues me.

The desk in the fourth picture is where a shop owner do all his paperwork. This shop has been in his family since 1922. Walking into the shop is like walking back into history. Even more impressive than the environment, was the shop owner and his wife. With not much at their disposal, in their old age, they live a life of integrity and even raised three daughters of a deceased client. It was a humbling experience to view their humility first and.

The image of the laundry basket as well as those of the kitchen wall and the kettle, was photographed with permission of the family of an old man who died a couple of days before these shots were taken. It was a heartfelt story that touched my heart deeply. The old man’s wife died about a year before him and in essence, he seized to exist since his wife’s death. The house deteriorated to the point, that you can see in those pictures. It is not pictures that shows the clutter and dirt, but it is evidence of a love so deep, that this old man could not exist without the love of his life.

– It is  the people I meet, and the stories behind my captures, that makes me so excited about my profession.
